26 Dec:  Having just returned to station a second call came in requesting assistance to the South Western Ambulance Service on Ballard Down after a young male slipped and broke his leg. On arrival and having taken advice from the Paramedic, it was suggested that a helicopter evacuation would be best for both the casualty and personnel on the ground due to the conditions. Rescue helicopter Victor Alpha was tasked from Portland and flew the injured male to Poole hospital.

23 Dec:  Just after 11.00 the IRT were requested to attend the Training Bank at Studland after a report of a large plastic sheet in the water. On arrival a parachute was found on the rocks and with the help of Poole ILB it was removed to the beach for the IRT to collect. Whilst it was unusual to find a parachute, there was no concern for user as the Royal Marines had reported they lost one two weeks ago.

16 Dec:  At 11.07, Portland RCC received a call from Dorset Police stating a male was stuck on cliffs west of Anvil Point. Coastguard Helicopter Rescue IJ was scrambled along with the full team. The helicopter found the male climber at the base of the cliffs, winching him to safety on top of the cliff to be met by the team. This left a slight problem of the two climbers ropes stuck in the rocks at the base of the cliffs, which would not pull clear. To save further calls or risk damage to passing boats a cliff man was lowered down to recover the lines. BBC news report [ HERE ]
